Life’s Reflection Willie D. Pugh, 87, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at his home in Kansas City, MO. He was born November 9, 1931 in Gould, Arkansas to Murray Pugh, Sr. and Mary Beatrice Pierce. Willie grew up in Gould, Arkansas and was educated in the Gould and Little Rock, Arkansas school systems.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Rosehill Baptist Church in Gould, Arkansas. He moved to Kansas City in April 1948. He united with the Second Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS, under the leadership of the late Roy A. Reed where he served as a Deacon, usher, President of the Brotherhood, was active in the Early Laymen Sunday morning services, Kaw Valley District Association, the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Kansas, and attended church services faithfully until his health failed.

He worked for the City of Kansas City as an Equipment Operator and retired in 1993 after 40 years of service. Willie Pugh united in marriage to Dorothy M. Mosley on October 27, 1951, and to this union 6 daughters were born. Deacon Pugh enjoyed life and with his wife traveled to Germany, Italy, London, and Hawaii.

Willie Pugh was preceded in death by both parents, Murray Pugh, Sr. and Mary Beatrice Pierce; two brothers, LaVern Dale and Murray Pugh, Jr.; four sisters, Lucille Pounds; Mary Louise Davis; Dorothy Johnson and Bobby Pounds. Willie Pugh is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pugh of 67 years of marriage of Kansas City, Missouri; his six daughters, June Pugh of San Antonio, Texas; Teresa Taylor (Pastor Ron) of Overland Park, Kansas; Phyllis Garnett (Ron) of Kansas City, Missouri; Sharon Pugh of Kansas City, Missouri; Cynthia Pugh of Dallas, Texas and Lisa MacArthur (Douglas) of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandchildren, Justin Sullivan; Antoinne Jones; Jonathan Taylor; Phillip Taylor; Caleb Taylor; Ja’son Forte’; Vincent Jamierson; William Walker III (Trey); Jasmine Walker; Julian Walker; Christian Walker; Joston Branch; Jalun Branch; Anthonisha Laurent; Jesse Johnson; Jordan Johnson; Damon Ray McArthur and Terrell Green; 21 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
