Willie’s Obituary Funeral services for Mr. Willie “Woody” Sanders, Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville with Reverend Mark Breland officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Esler Field, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville. Mr. Sanders, 67, of Esler Field, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, LA.

He was a native of Houma, where he was a proud member of the United Houma Nation Tribe and also a longtime resident of Esler Field. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War, a retired concrete contractor and a longtime coach, who had a forty-five year affiliation with Ward 10 Ball Park and Red River Football, which was his greatest passion in life, aside from his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie, Sr. and Annie Mae Williams Sanders; two brothers, Singleton Sanders and Frank Sanders and two sisters, Betty Sanders Chaisson and Rosalie Sanders Billiot.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-seven years, Beth Duncan Sanders, of Esler Field; two sons, Chad Sanders and his wife, Alissa, of Esler Field and Mark Sanders and his wife, Candice, of Esler Field and four grandchildren, Annmarie Sanders, Maci Sanders, Sophi Sanders and Anniston Sanders. Visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, May 31, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
