Age 77, of Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at SOMC in Portsmouth. He was born September 23, 1940 in Jeff Davis County, Georgia to Louis and Mamie (Cramer) Hewett. Windle was a farmer and known as a great joke teller.

He liked peanut butter, playing the harmonica, classic cars, John Deere, and never met a stranger. He enjoyed reading the bible and attended Wings of Healing Worship Center in West Portsmouth. He had a heart of gold and loved everyone.

God has truly gained an angel in Heaven. Fly high, Daddy. Windle is survived by his sons, Tony Hewett of Florida, David Hewett of Portsmouth, Scott Hewett of Chillicothe, Judd Hewett of Florida; daughters, Tammy Johnson of Florida, Laura Hewett of New Boston, Wendy Hewett of Georgia; sisters, Mary Johnson and Virginia Jenkins, both of Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Bennett. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Chuck Holsinger officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
