Winifred Worley, 93, of Easton, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in Abington Manor. Born July 21, 1925, in Fountain Hill, PA, she was a daughter of the late Edward D. Bamford and Hilda (Drauch) Bamford Santamaria. She was the step-daughter of the late Carmello Santamaria.

Her husband, Jacque D. Worley, passed away January 2, 2002, two weeks before their 44th wedding anniversary. She graduated from Easton High School Class of 1942. Winnie was employed as a secretary most of her adult life and in later years as a legal secretary, retiring in 2004.

She was a long-time Easton Red Rover fan, who only missed one Thanksgiving Day football game since 1940. An avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, she was a season ticket holder for 37 years. Winnie was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Easton, where she was a past president of the former LCW and a member of the current WELCA.

She served as coordinator of the church’s visitation program at Gracedale since 1980. A member of Rice-Ebner American Legion Auxiliary Unit #588 since 1949, she served three terms as president and treasurer and was membership and VA & rehabilitation chairman for more than 50 years. A member and past president of the auxiliary four-county council of Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton, she also served as a department district president and eastern vice president.

She was a volunteer at the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City, PA, since 2000 making weekly visits with about thirty residents. She had served as the auxiliary representative to the facility. Winnie was a partner and past chapeau of Northampton County Salon #182, Eight & Forty, serving as caissiere and children and youth chairman for more than fifty years.

She had been Democratic Committeewoman for the 12th Ward of the City of Easton. She was the first female chair of the Easton Democratic City Committee. In earlier years, she was a member and past president of the Easton High Varsity Mothers, active in the Webster and Cheston Elementary Schools’ PTA and was a Brownie leader.

Surviving are a daughter, Marianne L. Heimbach and her husband Timothy, Sr., of Easton; a son, James E. Worley and his wife Susan, of Palmer Township; a grandson, Timothy Heimbach, Jr. and his wife Megan; a granddaughter, Jacquelyn E. Torres and her husband Lance; three great-grandchildren, Delaney and Chase Heimbach, and L.J. Torres; and two half-sisters, Mary Misiura and her husband Michael and Jane Williamson. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Edward “Ned” and James Bamford. Services will be held at 11am Monday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 602 W. Berwick Street, Easton.
