Yolanda Renee’ Brown of Stone Mountain, Georgia October 30, 1958 – March 11, 2019 Yolanda Renee’ Brown was born October 30, 1958, in Kansas City, MO. She was the first child born to Willis Brown, Jr. and Rudy Brown-Hendricks. Her dad, Willis Brown, Jr. preceded her in death.

Yolanda received her Wings and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2019. She was educated in the Kansas City MO Public School System and graduated from Southeast High School in 1976, with honors. She went on to attend Creighton University, graduating in 1981, with a B.S. degree in Chemistry.

Yolanda was initiated in 1978, (Elusive Twelve line) as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc She met and married Daryl Brown, Sr. To this union one son, Daryl Brown, II was born. She was baptized at an early age.

Yolanda relocated to Atlanta, GA in 1993. She was an active and faithful member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA for over 20 years, where she previously sang in the choir, served on the Grief Support Ministry and was ordained as a Minister in 2013. Yolanda non-federal career began as a Chemist for Lake City Army Ammunition Plant.

After the excitement of hearing explosives wore off, she felt the desire to become a public servant in the field of environmental science. Yolanda quickly moved into management, holding positions such as Branch Manager of Analytical Services. Her federal service career began with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a summer intern.

Her professional federal service lasted 24 years; comprised of: Chemist, Project Officer, Special Assistant to the Division Director, Acting EEO Officer, and Federal Women’s Program Manager where she was employed at the time of her death. She was the proud mother of Daryl, who was truly the wind beneath her wings. She loved to watch movies, read as well as listening to music and the ocean.

Yolanda loved people and had a deep passion for counseling and meditation. She embraced everyone with the love of Christ and never met a stranger! She leaves to rejoice her life: her son, Daryl Andre’ Brown, II (Jasmin); grandson, Grayson, Ann Arbor, MI; her parents, Rudy Hendricks and Maurice Hendricks; two sisters, Rhonda Tigner (Alonzo); nieces, Alexis and Lauren all of KCMO; Cheryl Brown Rucker (Colandus) of Lee’s Summit, MO; her special aunt, Beverly Anderson (Michael and Je’Lesa) of KCMO; special sister-in-law, Bridget Brown (Tamika Carter and D. J. Jones) and a host of family and very special friends.

Services for Ms. Brown were held Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
