Obituary for Yvonne (Reynolds) Oliver Yvonne Ruth Oliver was the second oldest of nine children born to Robert and Minnie Reynolds in Inkster Michigan on January 23, 1953. Her parents, sister Stephanie and brother Leslie proceeded her in death. In Yvonne’s own words “Tell them I am a Reynolds”.

Yvonne was a proud member of her family’s legacy by ensuring every close friend felt like the 10th child. Yvonne and her siblings were raised in a loving Christian home. The Reynolds family worshipped at Bethlehem Temple of Inkster pastored by the late O.G. Hayes.

Yvonne, also known as “Von” or “Bonnie”, was known as the strong-willed child and grew up to be strong working woman. As a young child Yvonne began received her education from Dearborn Heights proving that she was an individual with relentless and determination. After graduating from Robichaud High School in 1971, Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Yvonne’s first job was as a nurse’s assistant at Garden City Hospital was proof of that.

On August 25, 1972 Yvonne began her career building F-Wipers for Ford Motor Company where she was a proud member of Union Local 898 in Rawsonville, Michigan. Yvonne enjoyed working with her friends and took pride working overtime. After 35 years, Yvonne retired from Ford Motor Company in 2002.

Her dedicated willingness to work made it hard for her to sit down. Consequently, Yvonne began babysitting for friends until landing a job at Blue Light as a direct care worker. After sometime she became supervisor; “Gotta make that money”.

In November 1979, Yvonne married the love of her life Wyman Bruce Oliver, “We were so in love” and had two beautiful daughters, Nataley Oliver and Michelle Jones. According to Regina Lewis, Bonnie’s close friend and beautician, “Those girls were her babydolls”. In 2017, Yvonne became Godmother to D’Anthony Brooks.

In the year 1982, Yvonne was born again by being baptized in the name of Jesus and being filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at Solomon Temple Detroit under Bishop Bonner. Sister Oliver enjoyed taking her children to Sunday School and Bible Class. Relocating her family to Inkster, Michigan.

Yvonne fellowshipped and became a member of Greater Grace Temple under Bishop Gary Harper. At Greater Grace, she enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with her sisters and friends and watching her children sing in the choir. After the death of her father Yvonne, Stephanie, and Judy followed her mother to Disciple of Christ Church (DOCC) under the Pastor Jack Gibson.

At DOCC, Yvonne enjoyed singing in the praise team with Nataley while Michelle played the drums, along with cooking in the kitchen with sisters Stephanie and Judy. Yvonne’s most enjoyed hobbies were reading novels, cooking, hanging out with her daughters whenever she could going to her beautician to get her hair done “Am going to see Gina! ” Yvonne loved to peel potatoes to make a salad and mix up her famous 7UP pound cakes.

For Yvonne, Thanksgiving food was made all year around because of her special ingredients. Until we meet again Yvonne will forever be remembered by her beautiful nieces and brave nephews for her encouragement and generous ways. Yvonne leaves to cherish her joyful memories; her faithful, loving husband of 35 years, Wyman Bruce Oliver, two daughters, Nataley Oliver and Michelle Jones (Darrell), siblings Lois Brooks (Texas), Susanne Jackson (Tennessee), Stephanie Perry (deceased), Robert Reynolds, Mark Reynolds, Judy Reynolds, Jeffery Reynolds and Leslie Reynolds (deceased).

Three sister-in-laws Wanda Reynolds, Maya Reynolds (Widow of Leslie), Sylvia Reynolds, one brother-in-law Boris Perry (Husband of Stephanie Perry). Her two aunts Emma Brown, Helen Dickerson and Uncle Charles Searcy. Close friends Regina Lewis, Dennise Gartell and Mack Ivory and one godson.
