Zola Mae Dycus, 97, of Dupont passed away at 1:12 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Born October 9, 1920, in Chuckey, Tennessee, Mrs. Dycus was the daughter of Emmet and Selma (Jones) Broyles. She married E.D. “Dan” Dycus Jr. on October 8, 1943, in Detroit Michigan; he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dycus received a high school diploma and went on to work for Revere Copper & Brass in Detroit making shells for the war in addition to being a housewife. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible, solving crossword puzzles, and working on her family’s farm.

Surviving Mrs. Dycus is her son, Daniel Charles Dycus of Beach Grove; her daughter, Sharon Garrett of Dupont; grandchildren Chris Dycus of Indianapolis and Nikie Wick of Whiteland; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.D. “Dan” Dycus Jr.; her parents, Emmet and Selma (Jones) Broyles; and her sisters Mary Kate Humphry and Helen Marie Black. A funeral service for Mrs. Dycus will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to help with expenses.
