Marie M. Winters, 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Born April 17, 1942, in Jefferson County, Indiana, Miss Winters was the daughter of James and Mary (Wheate) Witten. Miss Winters worked in Security for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus.

She enjoyed gardening and loved music. She is survived by her sisters – Wilma (Norman) Davis and Lois (Hugh) Couch, both of Sellersburg; brothers – David Winters of North Vernon and Carl (Media) Witten of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister – Linda Richey.

The funeral for Miss Winters will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with her brother, Carl Witten, officiating. Visitation will take place from 1 – 3 p.m. on Friday before the funeral. Cremation is planned afterwards.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Miss Winters to the American Cancer Society, the American Kidney Foundation, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, or Our Hospice of Jennings County.
