Emma Jane Andrews, 54, of North Vernon, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at her residence. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev.

Ray A. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the funeral home.

Born May 11, 1964, in LaPorte, IN, Emma was the daughter of John Carr and Evelyn Acton. She married Tony Andrews on December 4, 2004 and he survives. She raised two sons as a single mother.

She was employed as a gas station attendant, waitress or any other job needed to care for her children. She loved to work with children in the children’s church at New Beginnings Church of God in Seymour teaching crafts, songs, music and the Bible. She was a very devoted Christian, a great daughter, loving sister and wonderful mother.

She was a devoted and loving wife. Emma is survived by her husband, Tony Andrews of North Vernon; her mother, Evelyn Acton of Seymour; two sons, Thomas (Erika) Acton of Brownstown and Gary Acton of Columbus; six grandchildren, Alysa, Trinity, Abigail and Nathanial Acton of Brownstown and Emalee and Piper Acton of Columbus; two brothers, Leo “Buck” (Cathy) Carr of Seymour and John (Wanda) Carr of Mitchell; and two sisters, Matilda (Jay) Mellencamp and Sherri Burress all of Seymour. She was preceded in death by her father, John Carr; two sisters, Patricia Carr and Alice Smith; and one brother, Raymond Carr.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to New Beginnings Church of God.
