Obituary for A. Mason Smith A. Mason Smith age 86, passed away, Thursday, October 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. A long-standing active member of St. Philip Lutheran Church and Lutheran Men in Mission. Retired from V.A. in Chillicothe after 30 years of service.

Graduate from Waverly High School where he was an All-American Athlete. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles. Mason had a great and abiding love for his family, God, and sports.

Preceded in death by parents, Esther (Newman) and Alfred Smith; special aunt, Louise (Harris) Ward; first wife, Jacqueline Y. (Mosley) Smith; siblings, Aileen “Sug” Porter and Charles E. Harris; son, James Christopher Carter; and grandson, Justin Lamar Smith. Survived by loving wife of 33 years, Carolyn; children, Gary F. (Noredia), Shelley L. (Roger) Ragland, Lisa (Howard) Dickson, Todd Carter, Tia (Todd) Kegler, Howard “Chip” (Heather) Carter; grandchildren, Michael (Lynn), Ivy, Paige, Clay, Ryan, Elizabeth (Zeph) Stevens, Christa, Christopher, Noah, Howard, Michaela, Joy, Kalia; great-grandchildren, Breanne, Camden, Johnny, Kennedy, and Justus; sister-in-law, Carla (Michael) Williams; special cousins, many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday, October 22, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at St. Philip Lutheran Church, 1506 E. Long St., Columbus, OH 43203. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Contributions, if desired, may be made to St. Philip Lutheran Church, Men in Mission.
