Obituary for Adrian James “Jim” Verburg Adrian James “Jim” Verburg, 79, of Dover, PA, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, died peacefully, Friday, December 14, 2018 at the York Hospital. Born in Ada Township, MI on August 13, 1939, he was the son of the late Adrian and Helen Verburg. Jim was the loving husband and best friend of Cathy M. (Dellow) Verburg; they were married December 26, 2008.

Jim worked as a mechanical engineer, and was proud to have worked on NASA’s Saturn 5 Rocket Program. He was a US Army Veteran and a licensed pilot. Jim was a member of the First Evangelic Covenant Church, Grand Rapids, MI and the Church of the Open Door, York, PA.

He loved to travel with his wife, Cathy, in their R.V. He enjoyed sailing and cooking, he was especially known for his chili and bean soup. Jim loved to spend time with family, especially when they brought over cupcakes.

In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by his daughter, Nicole Hawley of Lowell, MI; his son, A.J. Verburg of Grand Rapids, MI; his step-sons, Brian Ensign and his wife, Nicole of York, PA, Todd Ensign of Homer, NY, and John Brandt and his wife, Debbie of Michigan; his brother, Robert Verburg of Michigan and his wife, Bea; and his sisters, Mary Kay and her husband, Phil of Michigan, Sharon Verburg of Michigan, and Nancy VanNoord of Texas. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Payden Hawley, Michael Hawley, Frankie Hawley, Samantha Ensign, Catelyn Ensign, Eleanor Ensign, Kenneth Ensign, and Terese Ensign. A memorial service and interment in Rosedale Memorial Park, Grand Rapids, MI, will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
