Alease Virginia Cheatwood Cobbins November 13, 1916 – February 21, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Thursday, February 21, 2019, Mrs. Alease Virginia Cheatwood Cobbins of Lynchburg, passed from earth to Heaven at her residence surrounded by love. She was born on November 13, 1916, in Big Island, Va. , the daughter of the late George and Gertrude Spinner Cheatwood.

Having accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age in Big Island, after marraige she joined Court Street Baptist Church in Lynchburg. Mrs. Cobbins was active in church, community and civic affairs. She was a retired Home Health Nurse.

A confidant to many, she treasured her friendships with life-long family friends. She loved raising her beautiful African violets and other house plants. In addition to her husband, Robert H. Cobbins Sr. and son, Dr. Robert H. Cobbins, Jr. “Johnnie”, she was preceded by her granddaughter, Lisa; and five sisters, Blanche, Velma (Gerald), Helen (Fred), Jimmie (Hiawatha Sr.), and Melinda (Warren).

Mrs. Cobbins will be greatly missed by her children and loved ones, Charlene and George (Kathryn); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maida (Jack), and Isaac; four great-grandchildren; and close family friends, Harriett Johnson, Gary and Sandy Williams, and Robert and Fay Walden. Funeral graveside services and interment will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Doctor Carl B. Hutcherson Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019, at Community Funeral Home.
