Alec Mitchell Hail, 21, of Riverside, passed away with his family at his side Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born Aug. 18, 1996, in Providence, he is the son of Andrew and Cynthia (Peterson) Hail.

Alec lived a vibrant life. He was a young man full of joy, curiosity, skill and humor. He was a graduate of East Providence High School Class of 2015 and was a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society.

Alec didn’t count the constraints and challenges of Duchenne muscular dystrophy as an impediment to living. Alec was a lover of his family, his friends and his home. He had a deep, lifelong interest in aerospace, the military, computers, culinary arts, lively conversation and most of all a good laugh.

His never-ending smile, compassion and cheerful nature were captivating. Though his family and friends’ hearts are broken, his lifelong faith in his God and Savior assures us that we will see him and be reunited with him one day, just as his heavenly Father has promised. He was greatly loved and will be profoundly missed.

His was a truly remarkable life. Alec is the brother of Alaina Caroline Hail; and the grandson of Barbara Andrews Hail of Warren, Russell N. Peterson of Warwick, the late Edward G. Hail, the late Arlene (Farrell) Peterson, and the late Mary (Spencer) Hail. Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 27, from 12 noon until 2 pm in the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence.

A service celebrating Alec’s life will begin Sunday at 2 pm in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Memorial donations are greatly appreciated to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc.
