Kaitlin Burke died suddenly on Wednesday evening October 24th, 2018 in East Providence, RI from the effects of a long-term illness. She was 32 years old, the only daughter of Nancy Ann Burke who passed away September 27, 2015 and the daughter of Robert W. Mallett, Jr. of Warwick Rhode Island. Kaitlin was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with honors.

She worked as a legal assistant for The Deaton Law Firm and continued to volunteer as a victim advocate at Day One. Kaitlin loved art in all of its forms. You could always find her in the middle of at least one book.

She was an avid reader of poetry and had a passion for creating her own. Her belief in still sending hand written cards, notes and letters touched a lot of people when they needed it. She loved good music from folk to funk and preferred it played loud.

She enjoyed watching good movies and also had a secret guilty pleasure for reality TV. Kaitlin adored animals and they knew it. She would have adopted every dog and cat in the shelter if possible.

Kaitlin’s keen intellect, quick wit and infectious laugh would light up any room and will be sorely missed by so many. Kaitlin is survived by her partner Tom Pinault of Rumford, Rhode Island. Her siblings; Robert W. Mallett III, Henry W. Mallett, Jessica E. Mallett, Nicole M. Mallett all of Warwick and her nephew Miles Lenhoff.

Kaitlin was the niece of Bill Burke of Derry, NH, Jeffrey Burke of Wilmington, NC and Kelly Stuart of Wallkill, NY. She was the cousin of Jennifer Anderson, Billy Burke, Alyssa Burke, Katja Burke, Daniel Stuart, Megan Stuart and the late David Stuart. She is the granddaughter of Robert W. Mallett, Sr. of Johnston and the late Elena DiFruscio Mallett; and the late George and Nancy Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday (11/3) from 11am until 2pm at the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. Burial will be private. Please omit flowers, contributions in Kaitlin’s memory may be made to the RI ASPCA or the American Cancer Society.

In the words of one of Kaitlin’s very special friends “It is better to celebrate someone’s life than mourn their death. It is obviously very sad, but if you’re someone who got to experience the best parts of Kaitlin, its worth appreciating how she enriched all our lives”. Kaitlin surely has left her mark on this world and is much loved and remains in all our hearts… To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Kaitlin Burke, please visit our Tribute Store.
