Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville. Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev.
Travis Abadie, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Rachel T. Chautin and Emily Turner. Giftbearers will be Nicole, Kaylee and Rylee Gautreaux.
Mr. Kennison was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville where he was a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church. Alex grew up a farmer, but quickly took to the soldier’s life as a Tank Commander after being drafted into the Army in 1953. Upon returning home, he married his lovely bride of sixty-one years, the former Shirley Richard of Leonville, and continued to work in agriculture at Lagrange’s Hardware Store in Arnaudville for over ten years, then at MB Darby Warehouse and Bayou Grain Elevator for over twenty years while simultaneously owning K&D Trucking.
He later became the Hunter Master of Indian Bayou Hunting Club-West Side. As much as he worked, he also enjoyed playing as he was an avid hunter and fisherman. The latter part of his life, he spent spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren and caring for his wife.
Survivors include his children, Deborah K. Turner and her husband, David, and Kurt Kennison and his wife, Louella; six grandchildren, Rachel T. Chautin (Brady), David M. Turner, Jr. (Magen), Justin C. Turner (Emily), Nicole K. Gautreaux (Jeremy), Kurt A. Kennison, Jr., and Travis A. Kennison (Holly); thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Kennison and his wife, Johanna, and Carrol Kennison; and his sister-in-law, Mary Kennison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphe Kennison and the former Euphemie Lagrange; and three brothers, Jules Kennison, Harold Kennison (Adelle) and Louis Kennison. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Saturday time until service time on Saturday. Pallbearers will be David Turner, Jr., Justin Turner, Brady Chautin, Travis Kennison and Jeremy Gautreaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Kurt Kennison, Jr. Melancon Funeral Home of Arnaudville, 224 Main Street, (337) 754-5725, is in charge of arrangements.
