Alexander Ryan Callan, age 34 of Walnut Bottom, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born Saturday, October 22, 1983 in Chambersburg, the child of Jeffrey Lewis and Lori Lynne (Hockenberry) Callan. Alexander graduated from Shippensburg High School in 2001.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Shippensburg University in 2006. Alex was known best by being an avid Steeler’s fan, enjoying video games and spending time with his dog and companion, Nova.

His close family and friends also knew him by another name and that was Batman. Alex is survived by his parents, former spouse, Jennifer L. Moyer, brother, Shawn Patrick Callan, step-brother, Chris Macedo, step-sisters, Nicole and Alicia Macedo, paternal grandmother, Betty Jane Sefcik, paternal step-grandmother, Anna Mae Callan, maternal grandparents, Michael and Brenda Vasko, additional maternal grandparents, William Sr. and Mary Hockenberry and numerous nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his biological mother, Anita Jean (Nezat) Callan, maternal grandparents, Jim and Flo Nezat, paternal grandfather, George E. Callan, paternal step-grandfather, Stephen Sefcik.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 1:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until time of services.

All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alex’s name to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Harrisburg Chapter, 600 Corporate Circle 103, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
