Alfreda’s Obituary Mrs. Alfreda Bass Grier, age 89, of Fairmont, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11am at Oakdale Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Floyd Memorial Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont. She was born May 28, 1929 in Robeson County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fleming Bass and Nora Buffkin Bass; her husband, Ollie Frank “O.F. Grier.

She is survived by two; sons, Dr. Terry Grier (Nancy) of Wilmington, N.C. and Mitch Grier (Louise) of Fairmont, N.C.; one sister, Norma “Dollie” Kissam of Fairmont, N.C.; three grandchildren, Leigh Grier Grimsley (Patrick) of Fort Mill, SC, Ashley Grier of Fairmont, N.C. and Dr. Jason Grier (Angella) of Sumter, SC; two step-granddaughters, Danielle Peckham Straus of Houston TX, and Anna Peckham Richardson of Tampa FL; two great-grandsons, Rylee Mitchell Martin of Fairmont, N.C. and Brooks Isaiah Grier of Sumter, SC; and one great-granddaughter, Sophie Evelyn Grier of Sumter, S.C.; a step-great-grandson, Nolan Richardson of Tampa, FL. Mrs. Grier was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. She was a former business co-owner along with Mildred Surles in Lumberton for many years.
