Ms. Alice J. (Flynn) Royer, L.P.N., 77, a resident of the Parsons section of the city, passed into eternal life Monday evening at her residence following an illness. Born March 3, 1941 in Hunlock Creek, she was a daughter to the late Luther and Dosha (Hess) Flynn. Educated in the Shickshinny schools, she was one of the very first graduating classes of the Northwest Area Jr./Sr.

High School. Ms. Royer furthered her education by attending the former Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing, where she attained her professional status as a licensed practical nurse. Nurse Royer was employed by the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, beginning her career in the nursery and later caring for patients in both the Intensive care and Coronary Care Units amassing more than forty years of service in nursing at the time of her retirement in 1999.

Known for her culinary skills as a wonderful cook, Ms. Royer is remembered as being a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all those she knew and loved in this life. She was preceded by her brother, Gordon Flynn, a sister, Audrey Sirak and by an infant great-grandson, David Joseph Snitko. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Brian L. Royer, of Shickshinny and Kimberly A. Snitko of Pittston; Grandchildren, Mark David Snitko and his wife Shauna and Amada Snitko; Great-granddaughters, Rachel Anne and Marissa Adaline Snitko; Sisters Ruth Linsinbigler and Mildred Linsinbigler both of Berwick; Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Royer will be conducted on Sunday evening with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. from the North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street. The Reverend Andrew Jerome, pastor of the Parsons Primitive Methodist Church, will serve as celebrant. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek.

Relatives and friends may join the Royer family for visitation and remembrances Sunday evening from 5:00 until the time of services.
