Allen’s Obituary Allen Charles Ganske, age 94, formerly from Eagle Lake and currently of Apple Valley, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Ecumen Centennial House in Apple Valley. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato with burial following at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. mankatomortuary.com. Allen was born in Orchard Lake, MN on August 15, 1924 to Emil and Mabel (Ebert) Ganske. They moved to Mankato in 1937.

He served his country during World War II from 1944-1946 on the island of Guam in the Pacific. He was united in marriage to Iva Harlow on November 11, 1948 in North Mankato. They lived in Eagle Lake from 1950-2018.

He was a meat cutter at Madsen’s Super Value, Mocol’s, Penney’s Supermarket, and was the manager of the meat department at Waseca Red Owl for 17 years. In his later years, he worked for the Mankato Free Press and delivered a rural route for the Home Magazine. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Eagle Lake Department for 23 years, retiring in 1975.

Allen is survived by his wife, Iva, of Mankato; daughter, Dianne (Mark) Nourie of Lakeville; son, Allen (Margo) Ganske of Park City, UT; grandchildren, Jason (Darcy) Nourie, Adam (Kelly) Nourie, Jessica (Sam) Haws, Dylan Ganske, and Lindsay (Wayne) Woodworth; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Ardis Ganske of Mankato; brothers, Gene Ganske of Mankato and Roy Ganske of Mankato; sisters-in-law, Berta Ganske, Maxine Ganske, Sandy Ganske and Wanda Ganske, all of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Verna Cole and Katherine Ganske; and brothers, Dale Ganske and Jerry Ganske.
