Allen Jones Fontenot March 07, 1923 – March 04, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card OPELOUSAS ~ Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas Chapel for Allen Jones Fontenot, age 95, who passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas. Interment will be held at a later date in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Deacon Jerome Collins of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church will officiate at the services.

Mr. Fontenot was a native of Whiteville and a resident of Opelousas. Survivors include his wife of seventy-four years, Merlyn Ardoin Fontenot; one son, Johnny Al Fontenot and his wife, Charlene, all of Opelousas; three grandchildren, Brooke Johnson and her husband, Tanner, Jodi Messina and her husband, Tommy, and Brian Latiemer; and five great grandchildren, Briggs Wood, Bowen Wood, Luke Messina, Maggie Messina and Millie Messina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Celestine Fontenot and the former Emma Guillory; one son, Dowell Ray Fontenot; and one daughter, Charlotte Fontenot Latiemer.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until service time on Thursday. Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas, 4708 I-49 North Service Road, (337) 407-1907, is in charge of arrangements.
