Albert Comeaux, Sr. November 25, 1929 – February 28, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card CANKTON ~ Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4, 2019 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchmans Roman Catholic Church in Cankton for Albert Comeaux, age 89, who passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his residence in Cankton. Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev.
Pio Maria Hoffman will officiate at the services. Readers will be Annette Comeaux and Judy Hoffmann. Giftbearers will be Marsha Smith and Cindy Herpin.
Mr. Comeaux was a native and lifelong resident of Cankton. A man of many endeavors, he was a Quarter Boat Master Chef for roughly nine years, was owner and head mason with Comeaux Brick and Block and later, was the owner of the grocery store “Albert and Annie’s Lil General”. He was the most amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend and was so extremely proud of the accomplishments of his family.
Given the chance, he never missed a chance to brag about them. Mr. Comeaux had many hobbies including bar-b-quing while drinking a few, spending time with his large family, watching his TV shows with his loving wife (wrestling, soap operas and old westerns), he was a huge Saints fan, loved horse races and betting on them, listening to Cajun music, and at one time, dancing the night away with his beautiful wife with a beer on top of his head and never spilling a drop. Survivors include his wife of seventy years, the former Annie Babineaux of Cankton; one daughter, Judy Comeaux Hoffmann and her husband, Gerald, of Lafayette; five sons, Malcolm “Mack” Comeaux of Carencro, Al Comeaux and his wife, Dawn, of Cankton, Craig Comeaux and his wife, Annette, of Carencro, Terry Comeaux and his wife, Jessie, of Cankton, and Ricky Comeaux and his wife, Rachel, of Cankton; twenty-two grandchildren, Cindy Comeaux Herpin of Carencro, Marsha Smith and her husband, Andy, of Arnaudville, Katie Boudreaux of Carencro, Kelli Gallet and her husband, Koleby, of Sunset, Josh Comeaux of Lafayette, Blake Comeaux of Houston, TX, Morgan Comeaux of Memphis, TN, Ashley Tadayeski and her husband, John, of Ireland, Hunter Comeaux and his wife, Jamie, of Church Point, Rikki Gravois and her husband, Bro, of Lafayette, Tracy Broussard of Church Point, Steven Meche of Church Point, Angelle Delahoussaye and her husband, Thomas, of Youngsville, Nick and Zach Noel of Crowley, Laila Cavalier and her husband, Bryan, of Lafayette, Matthew Boyer of Carencro, Heidi Norman and her husband, John, of Lafayette, Annie June Hoffman of Dallas, TX, Katrina Hoffmann of Lafayette, Brandon Hoffmann of Lafayette and Rev.
Pio Maria Hoffmann; forty-three great grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one brother, Clayton “Doo” Comeaux. He was preceded in death by one son, Tony Comeaux; his parents, Joseph Comeaux and the former Cecile Trahan; four brothers, Whitney Comeaux, Caliste Comeaux, Euby Comeaux, and Daly Comeaux; five sisters, Beula Stelly, Anna Quebedeaux, Della Cormier, Dolores “Meon” Folse and Ernestine “Toot-Toot” Broussard; one daughter-in-law, Jolynda Comeaux; two grandchildren, Nicholas Broussard and Shannon Simon; and two great grandchildren, Garrett Simon and Adam Gravois. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home by Barbara Richard and Lucille Dale Briscoe.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday. Pallbearers will be Malcolm Comeaux, Ricky Comeaux, Craig Comeaux, Terry Comeaux, Al Comeaux, Gerald Hoffmann. Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave.
