Alner Albertha (Forseth) Martin passed away on June 17, 2018. The eldest child of Melvin and Azetta (Harms) Forseth, she was born on July 13, 1925. She grew up in the Dodgeville, WI area and attended Dodgeville schools.

She married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Jones, and they raised their five children on farms in Iowa County. On February 20, 1969, she married the love of her life, Bernard Martin. They owned and operated the East Side Motel in Wisconsin Dells for several years.

Bernie and Alner spent the best years of their lives together, working, traveling, and hunting until his passing in 2006. Alner will be remembered, above-all, as Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, teacher and neighbor, Extraordinaire. She cherished and loved all aspects of being a wonderful loving mother and grandmother.

She taught us how to live “The Golden Rule”. She ran a farm, supported her children in countless school, 4-H, and church activities. For years, she sewed dresses, blouses and skirts for four daughters, taught us how to cook, keep house, instilled in us her work ethics, and provided endless love, guidance, advice, and wisdom.

Her legacy will live on in her children, Diane (Rowland) Randall, Marshall, WI; Gloria Jean Stolsmark, Lake Mills, WI; Douglas (Virginia) Jones, Beaver Dam, WI; Linda Bauer, Sun Prairie, WI; and Deborah (Tom) Massey, Nalcrest, FL. She is further survived by grandchildren Shannan Sheil-Morgan (Ethan Carlson), Erin (Steve) Hoffman, Karla (Chris) Evenson, Ryan Abplanalp, Bradley (Kathy) Bauer, Tawnya Bauer (Rich Weiss), Shawna Massey (Bill Wagner), and Shane (Jean) Massey. She is also survived by several great grandchildren.

Alner is further survived by a sister, Delores Martin, sisters-in-law, Mary Forseth and Rhonda Forseth, all of Dodgeville, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie; infant son, Jerry; her parents, and siblings, Vernon Forseth, Darlene and husband, P.J. Woerpel, James Forseth and brother-in-law Robert Martin. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Care Center, Chaplin Kim Beuerman, Sister Georgeann, and other members of the SSM Health Hospice Team, who helped guide us and gave us comfort through Alner’s final days.
