ST. PAUL, VIRGINIA – Alta Rose Jessee, 96, died Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Heritage Hall, Big Stone Gap, Virginia. She was born in Coeburn, Virginia; daughter of the late James Cody and Dove Edwards Rose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Jessee and one sister, Dorothy Rose Schneider. She was a former employee of Norton Floral in St. Paul, Virginia and a Teachers Aide at St. Paul Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Paul, Virginia.

She is survived by her son, Gary Jessee and wife, Yvonne of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; two grandchildren, Cari Jessee Allen and husband, Corey of Greenville, Tennessee and Von Jessee and wife, Kaitlyn of Hamden, Connecticut; two great grandchildren, Carson David Allen and Colyer Jessee Allen; one niece, Karen Valentine; one great nephew, Aaron Valentine. Funeral Services for Alta Rose Jessee will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Lee Kidd and Rev.

Mike Moore officiating. Committal Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be the men from the First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia.
