Obituary for Altus “A.J.” Boyd Jr. Altus “A.J.” Boyd Jr., 75, a native of Tylertown, MS. and resident of Labadieville, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held in his honor on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at St. Philomena Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until funeral time.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dolores Aysenne Boyd; 7 children, Elizabeth “Liz” Landry (Chuck), Alan Boyd (Tina), Danny Boyd (Barbara), Stephen Boyd (Arlene), Kevin Boyd (Lisa), Bobby Boyd (Susan) and Brad Boyd (companion Cindy).

He was also loved by his 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 9 step great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Burnette (Grover); half sister, Patricia Bullock; step-brother, Lynn Burnette; step-sister, Ellen Graham (Cletus). He was preceded in death by his parents Altus H. Boyd Sr. and Beatrice Simmons Graves; step-mother, Hilda Boyd; half-brother, David Graves Jr.; half-sister, Julia Miller. He was an automotive mechanic for nearly all his life.

He was a big fan of the Nascar Driver, Jimmie Johnson. He loved his family from near and far, he also loved the outdoors. He was always willing to help anyone in anyway that he could.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Haydel Memorial Hospice, especially nurse Patti Voss and Nathaniel Ward. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Landry’s Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
