Alvina Nagel July 30, 1927 – February 07, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Alvina Nagel, 91, Bismarck, ND, passed away on February 7, 2019, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 12, at 10:30 am at Church of the Ascension, 1825 S. 3rd Street, Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr.

Jim Braaten officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 11, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, February 12, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be held in the spring at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Linton. Alvina was born in Emmons County on July 30, 1927, to Zacheus and Eva (Brickner) Bachmeier. She was raised on a farm west of Strasburg in the Krassna area and attended rural Emmons County Schools.

Alvina married Elias J Nagel on August 31, 1949, at Holy Trinity Church in Krassna. The couple raised 8 children, 4 girls and 4 boys. The family lived on a farm 22 miles west of Linton.

In 1980 they moved to Linton, and Alvina became employed at the Linton Hospital as a nurse assistant. She enjoyed her work caring for others at the Hospital where she also made many lifelong friends. She retired in 1991.

She and Elias also worked together doing custodial work at Kem Electric. Alvina attended St. Anthony Catholic Church and was active in the St. Anthony Catholic Daughters and Foresters. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Alvina was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. She supported her family members with their various activities and ventures. She took pride in her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments.

Alvina is best remembered for her warm smiles, great meals, and baking skills. She enjoyed opening her home to friends and family and made everyone feel welcome. Her family was blessed with her loving ways.

Alvina had many hobbies that included gardening, quilting, embroidery, cooking, baking, canning, dancing and playing cards. Alvina courageously battled Alzheimer’s the last years of her life. Despite the illness, her unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of her family uplifted her through the most challenging moments.

Alvina is survived by her children, Carol (Erv) Walther of Bismarck, Dan (Diana) Nagel of Castle Rock, CO, Judy (Terry) Kringstad of Bismarck, Linda Ellegard-Lawrence of Colorado Springs, CO, Dennis (Shirley Thomas) of Bismarck, Melvin (Candis Haines) of Hillsboro, ND and Kelly (Jeff) Fisher of Bismarck; her sister, Cecilia Logan; her 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Alvina is preceded in death by her husband, Elias; parents; one son, David; her grandson, Joey; her son-in- law, Bill Lawrence; her daughter-in-law, Hedy Nagel; her sisters, Rose Brown, Gertrude Paul; her brothers John, Tony, and Edwin; and two brothers who died at infancy.
