Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy June (Martin) Kopp, 91, passed away Monday night, March 18, 2019 after a brief stay at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. This was after a 10 month stay at Edgewood Vista on Dominion; a place she called home while battling breast cancer. Per Dorothy’s request no memorial service will be held.

Cremation has taken place and interment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 3:00 pm. Dorothy was born in Bismarck on June 8, 1927, to John and Lydia (Hietzman) Martin. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1945 and worked for several years at the State Health Department.

On December 28, 1948 she married Thomas Custer Kopp in Bismarck. They were married for 62 years until the death of Thomas in January 2011. Everyone who knew Dorothy knew she loved CATS!

! In her younger years Dorothy loved reading, playing bridge, and singing in the church choir. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Susan Marie (Michael) Zimmerman, Bismarck; sons, John Thomas Kopp, Mandan; and Christopher Martin Kopp, Fargo; five granddaughters, Rebecca (Michael) Stutz, Elizabeth Schneider, Sarah (Charles) Heitkamp, Bethany (Richard McCaffery) Kopp, Lasha (Matt) Oss; five great-grandchildren, Farrah, Finn, and Griffen Heitkamp; and Navy and Oakley Oss; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas; daughter-in-law Vicki (Forness) Kopp; two great-grandchildren; and seven siblings and their spouses, Emil (Vi) Martin, Ray Martin, Alice (Clarence) Schlosser, Viola (Hubert) Smith, Esther (William) Schutt, Linn (George) Galloway, and Marty (Robert) Mooney. She was also preceded in death by her husband’s siblings and their spouses, Fred (Liz) Kopp and Odellia (James) Peake; and nephew, Dave Kopp; nieces, Karen (Mooney) Kramer and Candace Galloway. In lieu of memorials, family would prefer donations to Bismarck Cancer Center.

Family would like to thank Edgewood Vista on Dominion for making Dorothy feel ‘Snug as a Bug’. She truly loved living there. It was her home.

And a thank you to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for their kindness towards Dorothy. She told us every day how ‘nice’ you were to her.
