Americo Serrano, Jr. May 17, 1946 – January 12, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Americo Serrano Jr. passed away January 12, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents: Americo and Gumersinda Serrano and sister, Theresa Velasquez (New Jersey). Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico in 1946, he came to Milwaukee, WI in 1957.

He leaves behind his caring siblings, Carmen Román, Delores Velasquez, Anibal Serrano, William Robert Serrano, and Vincente Serrano. He is the beloved father of Victoria (Vikki) Serrano-Ruiz and Mark Anthony Serrano, children of his 12-year marriage to Aida I. Rodriguez. He’s the loving grandfather of Olivia Reynairis Ruiz and Mia Simone Ruiz, daughters of Victoria Serrano-Ruiz and Hugo Ruiz, and Stephanie Serrano, Mark Anthony Serrano Jr., Andrew Brandon Serrano, Joseph Americo Serrano, children of Mark Anthony Serrano who is married to Aracely Serrano.

He is also survived by step-granddaughter Julia Lopez and great-grandson Josiah Antonio Jackson. Further survived by his long-term, loving companion of 33 years, Sonia Rivera Rey and her daughter Nivia Rivera, with whom he shared a life that he lived happily and to its fullest. Americo was an uncle on the Serrano side to 26 nephews and nieces, 53 great-nephews and nieces and 5 great-great nephews and nieces.

He was an uncle on the Perez-Serrano side to 20 nieces and nephews. Americo led a life of dedication and commitment to work by helping others. He was a gentle man with a strong work ethic who was loved by many because of his kind spirit and beautiful heart.

He found a way to brighten any situation with humor, compassion, and funny dad jokes. Americo was an extremely skilled repairman who loved to use his talents to help others. Americo would want you to remember him as a happy-go-lucky jokester, so we ask that you remember him with a smile.

A Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (723 W. Washington St.) in Milwaukee on Saturday, January 19 at noon with a visitation at church from 10AM until time of Mass.
