Obituary of Anastazija Wusik Anastazija (Stella) Wusik 1926 – 2018 Utica Anastazija (Stella) Wusik, 92 a longtime area resident passed away peacefully on Monday July 23, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, where she resided for the last 10 months. She was born in the Ukraine on April 1, 1926 to Ivan and Xenia Demko Olivia. She married Fritz Wusik in 1945 in Germany.

The couple came to the United States in 1949, settling in the Utica area. Mr. Wusik passed away in 1974. Mrs. Wusik was employed by Doeskin for many years until the plants closing in 1971.

She was then employed by the ConMed Corporation until her retirement. Stella was a very generous and giving person. She will be remembered for knitting “Babu” slippers for her grandchildren and keeping everyone well fed with her cooking and baking, especially her well loved perogi.

Her survivors include one son and daughter in law, Michael and Linda Wusik, of Utica, daughter and son –in- law, Mary and William Hager of WV. daughter, Sue Popejoy of VA. , and her son in law Joe DeFazio, of Utica.

She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, along with her Goddaughter, Vera. She was predeceased her daughter, Irene DeFazio in 2005 and her son Paul in 2018. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave, Utica.

The family will receive visitors from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.
