Ann Moniuk, age 95, of Fairfield, died on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a short illness. She was born in Bridgeport to the late Nicholas and Mary (Terlecka) Wairy on June 11, 1923. Ann graduated from Stratford High School and held several secretarial positions including the Town of Fairfield and U.S. Baird from which she retired.

Ann was also an avid UConn Women’s basketball fan, never missing a televised game and always discussing it with her sister Olga.

Ann is survived by her son, Steve Moniuk and his wife Ann Marie; two grandchildren, Stephanie Moniuk and Alycia Moniuk Mercure; her sister, Olga Pidluski; and friends at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox church of Bridgeport. Ann was predeceased by her loving husband, Stephen Moniuk; her daughter, Hope Meyer; and two sisters, Pearl Dent and Helen Flonc. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford followed by a funeral service 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 10 Oakwood Street, Bridgeport, with Very Rev.

Stephen Masliuk officiating. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery, 2610 Nichols Avenue, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bridgeport.
