Marva Ann Terry Adams, 86, passed away March 1, 2019, in Layton, Utah. She was born August 21, 1932, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Zera Ray and Ada Bell Terry. Ann grew up in Idaho Falls.

As the youngest child of Ray and Ada, her next older sibling was ten years older, so she grew up with her nephews and nieces, who were closer in age to her. Ann’s mother was ill for as long as she could remember, so, as a teenager, her job was to take care of her mother. She played the violin in the orchestra and performed in school plays.

A turning point in her young life was when her father died suddenly the summer before her senior year of high school. She finished school then went to San Francisco to dental and nursing school. Within a year, her mother also passed.

As an 18 year old she was on her own. Ann served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Central Eastern States Mission from 1955 to 1957. She taught Mary King and her family, who became lifelong friends and family to her.

She married Joseph Neil Adams on December 20, 1957, in the Idaho Falls temple. Joe adored Ann and Ann adored Joe! They were a team as they moved from Utah to New York to California and back to Idaho before moving to Pennsylvania and on to Bowie, Maryland, where they lived for 20+ years while raising their five children.

They were married for 60 years when Joe died last August. As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully and with her whole heart throughout her life. Ann was a “Master Teacher” and the “Ultimate Scriptorian”.

She always taught Gospel Doctrine and led the music, but her favorite calling was teaching her early-morning Seminary class, which she did for 14 years. Her students loved her and she instilled in them a love of the scriptures and a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She also served as a temple worker in both the Washington, DC, and St. George temples.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and all of her siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her children; Thomas Adams, Elizabeth (Tom) Watson, Mary (Ryan) Hammer, J. Newton (Becky) Adams and Christopher (Vaneska) Adams. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family offers their sincerest love and thanks to all of the angels of Fairfield Village and Encompass Hospice for their care and kindness. Funeral services will be held March 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 12th Ward LDS Chapel, 1039 Crestwood Rd. , Kaysville, Utah.

Friends may visit with family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
