January 11, 1990 this earth was blessed with a small boy. On February 23, 2019 a man was taken home. Blake passed away doing what he loved, working on cars and helping others.
Prior to this tragic accident, he might have been 29 years in age, but he was a kid at heart, only going on 15. There was nothing simple about Blake, yet he was simple at heart. His mom and dad knew early in life, Blake would grow up to work with equipment.
The bigger the better. At the age of 5 he could ride a four-wheeler, but struggled to ride a bike, only because it had no motor. Through his years of growing up, he always made people laugh.
And when you saw his smirky, little smile, you knew he was up to no good. Blake loved to ride his skate board, paint ball, jump dirt hills with his bike and ride his four-wheeler as fast as it could go. Later his toys just got bigger.
Oil rigs, pick-up trucks, dump trucks and tow trucks. At his current job he was able to “Exercise” all of the military equipment, including tanks, backhoes, and a Humvee. This was like a kid in a sand box for him.
There wasn’t a day that went by, he didn’t want to hunt, camp, four-wheel, or go boating up the river to fish. He’d go with or without anyone, that’s all he wanted to do. Those few times he wasn’t fishing, he loved to go bowling, snowmobiling, camping, sitting by a fire and go to Lava Hot Springs.
In 2012 Blake and Cheyenne Simmons brought into this world a baby boy Riggin. They lived together for 1½ years, and even though they always remained friends. Later Blake met the love of his life Heather Leach.
They bought a house and settled down in Corinne. Heather’s daughter Ava and Riggin became friends and siblings. Blake enjoyed showing Heather the world through his eyes, and she would always go along with it, well most of the time.
He liked to go to auctions and see what a good deal he could find that day, or just stay home to perfect his tomato garden and even just play with his other love, Daisy his dog. Blake wanted to teach his son and Ava to be just like him. Teaching them all the tricks and skills he had.
He loved them more than life and tried to be the best dad he knew how to be. Blake touched so many lives, he will be missed deeply and never forgotten. So many people will feel the loss of Blake, but no one more than his parents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
