Nancy Marie Chadwick Ketcham Nancy Marie Chadwick Ketcham, 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. She was born on September 13, 1928 in Painesville, Ohio to Byron and Emily Silver Chadwick. On August 5, 1949, Nancy married Fred Ketcham in Willard, Utah.

They had four children, one daughter and three sons. Nancy grew up in Painesville and, throughout her life, had fond memories of it and Lake Erie. After her graduation from high school she and her parents moved to her parents’ original home state of Utah where she enrolled at Weber College, then briefly Logan, to study art.

Then came marriage and motherhood. Fred credits Nancy with helping him through his engineering studies at the University of Utah by proofreading and typing many of his papers. Nancy, Fred, and their growing family spent several years in California before returning to Utah in 1958.

She was active in the PTA and the League of Women Voters and served terms as the local president in both organizations. She retained an intense interest in art and once her children were older she returned to Weber College (which had by then become a 4 year school) where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree with Phi Kappa Phi honors at the age of 47. The day after her graduation ceremony she flew to the east coast to help her daughter with a newborn grandchild.

In 1981 she began teaching art at the Golden Years Center in Bountiful and in the mid 1980’s she taught at the Bountiful/Davis Art Center. She also sold many of her paintings. Nancy attended the Bountiful Community Church for decades until health issues began to take their toll.

She loved choral music and participated in the church choir. She was also a competent pianist and derived great joy from that as well. She wanted to be remembered for her kindness, dependability (including being “on time to pick up passengers”), and a quiet manner.

Her family remembers her as a marvelous wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband, Fred Ketcham; daughter Jean Navarro; sons Bill Ketcham, Tom (Jane) Ketcham, Vic (Jenny) Ketcham, seven grandchildren Carter Navarro, Paul Ketcham, Adam Ketcham, Seth Ketcham, Ed Ketcham, Steve Ketcham, Kelly Castellano; and nine great grandchildren. Her family will be holding a private ceremony at Lake Erie at a later date.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
