Obituary for Anna Lou “Gran” Upperman Anna Lou “Gran” Upperman, 82, of Anderson, passed away on September 27, 2018 at St.Vincent’s Hospital Anderson. She was born on May 11, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio and resided most of her life in Anderson. Anna is survived by her children, Jude Upperman, Sharon Upperman, Sandi (Rick) Coppess, Gregg (Karen) Upperman, Terry Upperman; siblings, Judy (Gary) Mulvihill, Tom (Monica) Moore, Carol Moore; grandchildren, John Kuczwara, Aimee (Scott) Zabinsky, Steven Coppess, Kristina (John) Latham, Jim Fox, Cody Upperman, Kelsey Upperman, Jordan Wrin, Casey Upperman, Cully Upperman, Daniel Jones, John Jones, Luke Jones, Sarah Mahmoud, Samuel Jones, Matt Jones; great-grandchildren, Christopher Priddy, Shaun Priddy, Samantha Coppess, Chloe Roe Zabinsky, Harper Zabinsky, Henry Latham.

Anna is also survived by Ruth Moore, Kay and Jerry Harris, Dale McFarland, Mary and Dan Dunbar, Jack and Noreida Hall; nieces, nephews, extended family, and her many friends at Lindberg Crossing; She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Upperman; mother, Elizabeth Moore; father, Edward Roe Moore; and her granddaughter, Christina Priddy. Anna spent her life caring for others. She had a loving, generous, nurturing soul.

She was a wonderful cook and could stretch a meal to include any neighborhood kid. No one was ever turned away. She made famous popcorn balls that brought grown children back to her house to trick or treat.

After she raised her children, she worked as an activity assistant at Alexandria Convalescent Center and Manor Care. She enjoyed working in her yard, going to rummage sales and the Anderson Farmers Market. She loved “Family Dinner Night” every Tuesday with family and friends, playing cards, reading and shopping for the perfect gifts for others.

All were welcome in Gran’s home. No one left hungry or empty handed. It was always “Wait, I have something for you”.

She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and develop their own personalities and interests. She was always wondering what they would do next. Her spirit was strong, but her body grew tired and she will have to watch from Heaven.

Rest in peace, Gran. Visitation will be held Monday, October 1, 2018, 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson. Services will be at 2:30 pm, Monday, October 1, 2018, at the funeral home.
