Anna May Shaffer, 87, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center, Hanover, PA, surrounded by her loving family. Anna May was the loving wife of the late Harold G. Shaffer, who died November 13, 2014 and the late Donald E. Lupp, who died January 1, 1962. Born October 22, 1931 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late John E. & Bertha E. (Rudisill) Miller.

Mrs. Shaffer was a life-long member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA, where she was a member of different Choirs and did other volunteer work. Anna May was a 1949 graduate of Eichelberger Senior High School and attended the Thompson Business College. She retired from the Hanover Chapter of the American Red Cross after twenty-one years.

She loved her family, friends, cats, and all other animals and enjoyed going bird watching with her friends. She also enjoyed traveling and playing games with friends. Since living at Homewood, she took an interest in painting and other crafts.

Anna May is survived by two sons, John A. Lupp and his wife Denise of Littlestown, PA, and Thomas E. Lupp and his wife Betsie Handley of Frederick, MD; two granddaughters, Jennifer Bolin and her husband Andrew of Hanover, PA, and Sarah Russell and husband Austin of Cairnbrook, PA; and two great-grandchildren, Heath and Cassie Bolin. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph R. Miller and Robert E. Miller. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Anna May will be held 11:30 AM, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA with the Rev.

Kathryn A. Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:30 AM, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anna May’s memory to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA, the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331, or to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
