Thomas Eugene Kohler, 74, of East Berlin, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the York Hospital. Born July 6, 1944 in Dover, PA he was the son of the late Ralph and Pearl (Snyder) Kohler. Tom was the loving husband of Janice L. (Robeson) Kohler with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.

Tom’s career in Restaurant Management & Food Service spanned 37 ½ years with the McCrory Corporation. He began his career in York, PA and retired in York, PA, having managed McCrory restaurants in NY, PA and MA throughout the years before returning to York, PA. Tom was involved in numerous projects affecting regional restaurant changes when he returned to York, PA in the final years prior to his retirement.

He was the owner of Tom Kohler’s Auto Sales in Manchester, PA, and Tom’s Super Dog at the Williams Grove Flea Market. Tom was a 32nd degree Free & Accepted Mason. He was a member of the Wrightsville Lodge 503, Harrisburg Consistory, the Zembo Shriners, and the Tall Cedars, where he was part of the clown unit, antique Car Unit, and Chairman of the Annual Rose Campaign for Muscular Dystrophy, raising significant funds over a 3- year period.

Tom was a volunteer and fundraiser with the American Cancer Society, and American Heart Association, where he was the York Chapter Board President for two years and chaired the development committee. Tom modeled his life after his idol Billy Graham’s life and beliefs, whom he respected and was inspired by. He was very spiritual, had a good heart and was gracious to every person he met through his life.

He loved everyone, and everyone loved him. Tom’s loving personality and humor were truly a special gift and he will be greatly missed. In addition to his loving wife, Janice, Tom is survived by two sons, Thomas T. Kohler and wife Diana of Manchester, PA, Tim John Kohler of Manchester, PA, grandsons, T. J. Kohler and wife Nicole and Hunter Kohler; sister, Barbara Cramer of Dover, PA, sister-in-law, Kimberly L. Robeson of East Berlin, PA, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Kohler and a sister, Judy Ort. As per Tom’s wishes of being a Gift-of-Life donor and following cremation, a Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Lake Meade Community Center Building, East Berlin, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name to the American Heart Association, 4250 Crums Mill Road, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17112, the SPCA of York County, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406, or to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
