Anna Pearl Rodgers , March 20, 1945 — April 29, 2018

Anna Pearl Rodgers Montgomery was born March 20, 1945 in Casscoe, Arkansas to the late Myrtle (Hogan) Montgomery and Sidney Montgomery, Sr She departed this life Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Baptist Memorial. Anna was united in holy matrimony to Brother Otis (Bobby) L. Rodgers for forty-six blissful years.

No children were born, but after her sister’s death, they continued to raise her four children—Marlon Jennings, Sr., Alesia, Rossalind, and Eddie Patton, Jr She is preceded in death by her parents—Sidney Montgomery, Sr. and Myrtle Hogan Montgomery; one sister—Maderia Patton; and two brothers—Algy and Geary Don Montgomery. She accepted Christ at an early age at Wofford Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. James O. Anderson.

She later moved to Detroit, where she served at Greater Mount Tabor as a Church Nurse for many years under the leadership of Dr. Aaron Blackman. Anna was a 1963 graduate of Immanual High School in Almyra, Arkansas. She moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she met the love of her life—Otis “Bobby” L. Rodgers.

She always was a hard worker. She retired from Ameritech Communications, where she worked for thirty years as a Systems Analyst. When she wasn’t reading her James Patterson books, Anna loved to entertain family and friends.

There wasn’t a holiday or birthday that went by. She had a heart of gold and a passion for cooking. She always had enough food for the neighborhood, and she would give you the shirt off her back!

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband—Brother Otis “Bobby” L. Rodgers; Marlon Jennings, Sr., Alesia (Raymond) Chapple, Rossalind Brown, and Eddie Patton, Jr.; two brothers—Sidney (Stephanie) Montgomery and Cartte (Shurby) Montgomery; one aunt—Elfreda Oats; six sisters-in-law—Vanassa Stinson, Ronda Collins from Detroit, Michigan, Betty Rodgers and Jessie Pearl Rodgers from Phoenix City, Arizona, Rozetta Rodgers and Ester Rodgers of Wood Haven, Connecticut; a special sister– Hattie Hogan of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and longtime friends.
