Annetta ‘Anita’ Petersen March 31, 1940 – January 24, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Annetta “Anita” May Petersen of Yerington, NV passed away peacefully in her home on January 24, 2019, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 78. A native of California, Anita lived in Yerington for the last six years with her husband, Ralph Irving Petersen.
Anita was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Yerington, NV. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt. She could usually be found with a pair of knitting needles or a crochet hook and some yarn in her hands.
Friends and family were the grateful recipients of the hand-made blankets, hats and clothes she crafted. Anita also enjoyed sewing, doll-making and other crafts. She loved sports (golf, football, baseball, basketball and bowling) and was an avid LA Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys fan.
She herself was a bowler at one time, having been a member of a women’s league as well as a mixed league in which she and Ralph bowled. Along with her loving husband Ralph, Anita was involved in researching her family genealogy and taking road trips to see the United States and visit friends and relatives. She also loved her dogs, most recently Buttons, Fox Mulder and Milo Barkington.
Anita is preceded in death by her father, Eulis Richard Miller, and mother, Edith Marie Yates; son, Timothy Johannes Keizer; daughter Deanna Lynn Petersen and daughter-in-law Jolene Keizer; brothers William Hyram Miller, Lester Paul Bryant, Eddie Miller and Jerry Miller; and sister Debbie Osborne. Annetta is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Ralph Irving Petersen of Yerington, NV; sons David William Keizer of Joshua Tree, CA and Kenneth Allen Petersen (Felicia); and daughters Tammy Langley (James) of Houston, TX, Kathy Chennault (Bryan) of Vancouver, WA and Tamera Sue Gericke of Highland, CA. Anita also leaves behind six brothers (Arthur Miller, George Shinn, Daniel Bryant, James Bryant, Randy Miller and Tommy Miller) and three sisters (Lena Barker, Fay Tamez and Leslie Miller).
Anita also leaves nine beloved grandchildren (David William Keizer, Spencer Joseph Keizer, Danielle Marie Covington, Luc Alexander Cosmo Chennault, Ceymonne Alexandria Chennault, Destiny Petersen, Megan Petersen, Jessica Pruett and KC Petersen) and two great-grandchildren (Kaylee Stolteberg and Kamryn Stoltenberg) along with dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews and “adopted” family members. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Yerington followed by a light lunch. Viewing will be held at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington on January 29 between 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm.
