Smith, 87, of Stuyvesant Street Kingston died Thursday January 3, 2019 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 16, 1931 in Fort Valley, Georgia she is the daughter of the late Money Mae (Rumph) Talton. Annye was employed at Head Start program since its inception, retiring after many years as a teacher.

She was also an in house daycare provider. She was grandparent foster parent, Godparent to many. She was a member of NAACP, Kings Kids Program, and Pointe of Praise Church.

She is survived by her children; James Harris and his wife Sheila of New York City, Elizabeth Waters of Albany, Kenyetta Williams and her husband Michael of Lawrenceville Georgia, and Charles M. Smith and his wife Cheryl of Kingston. Siblings Colistine Slaughter, and Margaret Smith of Fort Valley Georgia, Grandchildren: James Harris, Jameish Harris, Jamilla Harris, Marcus Harris, Tyron Harris, Aisha Harris Benson, Khalilah Abdul-Baqi, Cherana Harris, Mustafa Abdul-Baqi, Najah Abdul-Baqi, Qasim Harris, Malika Harris, Kifah Margolis, Lakia Moret, Mikayla Williams, Tiffany Wenderoth, Dominique Smith, Michael Smith, Justis Smith, Keishawn Smith, Demario Smith, Giovanni Smith She is predeceased by her husband Charles R. Smith, her sons Bilal Abdul-Baqi and Paul Waters. Sibilings Calvin Talton, Charles Talton, Herbert Talton, Barry Talton, Ernest Talton, Anthony Talton, Loistine Steele, Aileen Brown, Betty Talton and Elmira Talton Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc. Friends will be received at Pointe of Praise Church 243 Hurley Avenue Kingston, NY on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

A Home Going Celebration will take place at 12:00 PM at Pointe of Praise Church. Burial will follow at Montrepose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers send donations to Pointe of Praise Church.
