Louise Panton, 98, formerly of Woodstock died Saturday December 29, 2018 at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie. Born November 28, 1920 in Rice, Virginia; she is the daughter of the late Amos and Alberta (Thorton) Coleman. For several years; Louise was a foster mother and mentor to young children.

She was active in various churches throughout the east coast such as High Bridge Baptist Church in her hometown, AME Zion, Presbyterian and St. Alban’s Churches in New York City for forty seven years, and locally at Christ’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock. Louise was also a community activist and traveler. Surviving is her daughter Shirley Parker-Benjamin and her husband Thomas of Poughkeepsie, a son Dr. Clifford D. Panton, Jr. and his wife Miriam of Atlanta, Georgia grandchildren; Omar H. Parker, Daniel Clifford Panton, and a canine companion Miley as well as hosts of cousins also survive.

Her husband Clifford D. Panton, Sr., sons Maury and David Panton as well as two brothers James Thorton and Burnelle Bolding died previously.
