Obituary for Anthony Avella Anthony Avella of Huguenot, passed away suddenly on October 13, 2018 at S.I. University Hospital North surrounded by his loving family. He was a proud veteran, serving honorably in the United States Army from 1966 to 1970. Anthony, a devout christian, was a member of First Bible Church for 25 years.

He was also a Scout Master for 20 year with the Boy Scouts of America, spending many summers at 10 Mile River Boy Scout Camp, which is where he met his wife, Maureen. Anthony loved to travel, enjoying the many trips taken with his wife and family, some of which included South America, Europe, the Canadian Rockies and especially trips to Australia and New Zealand. Some of his hobbies included, fishing and target shooting, as well as a variety of music.

He was a devoted family man who absolutely adored his grandchildren and surrounded his family with love. He was loved by all and will truly be missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Maureen, nee, Flanagan.

Loving father of Joan Mourikis, Anthony Avella, Kelly Ryan and Billy Mullins. Dearest father-in-law of Marino Mourikis, Rose Avella and Marc Ryan. Dear brother of Ralph Avella.

Fond brother-in-law of Joanne Avella. Devoted grandfather of Julia, Mary, Amberly, Brayden and Quinn. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at First Bible Church, 6200 Amboy Road, Staten Island. Burial will be private.
