Ardella’s Obituary Ardella J. Rieger, age 88, of Nicollet, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Pathstone Living Center in Mankato. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Pastor Dan Witte will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

mvfh.org Ardella is survived by her daughters, Jean Hopp, Gail (Ken) Blaschko; son, Scott (Bonnie) Rieger; grandchildren, Jeff Hopp, Shawn Fouse, Mindi (Greg) Squires, and Ben Rieger; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Darius Squires; her sister Molly (Dave) Rengstorf; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; sister, Delores (Bill) Murphy and her granddaughter-in-law, Madeleine Hopp. Ardella Jean Schroeder was born March 27, 1931 to Alfred and Olga (Wels) Schroeder in Nicollet, MN.

She attended Trinity Lutheran School until the 8th grade and graduated from Nicollet High School in 1948. After high school she attended nursing school at Union Hospital in New Ulm. She worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.

On March 27, 1950, she married Ralph Rieger in Nicollet. The couple lived in New Ulm until 1955 when they moved to Ardella’s family farm near Nicollet. After retiring from nursing she worked as a cook for Trinity Lutheran School and as a school bus driver for special needs children.

She enjoyed gardening and crocheting but above all else she loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
