Arthur R. “Fritz” Gowey, 89, of Milan, passed away Thursday October 18, 2018 at UPH Trinity, Rock Island. A Celebration of Life service will be held on 10:00am Tuesday at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at the funeral home, with a Masonic Service at 7pm.

Private burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military honors presented by the United Sates Army. Memorials may be left to Rock Island Humane Society. Fritz was born on April 29, 1929 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Maurice and Eunice (Engel) Gowey.

He married Nancy Coyne on August 8, 1953 in Rock Island. He had been employed at the former Red Jacket Pump, Davenport for over 37 years. Fritz enjoyed working on his antique tractors, dancing, wintering in Florida and summer trips to Lake of the Ozarks with his family.

Mr. Gowey had been the Past Master of the Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 69, Milan. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Korea.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; children, Jeff (Cathy) Gowey, Steve (Julie) Gowey and Linda (Doug) McKay; grandchildren, Brandon(Hiliary), Nathan(Sarah), Christopher(Laura) and Chance; siblings, Ginny, Norma and Miriam.
