Arthur “Rex” Hoppie , 78, of Parkersburg passed away July 5, 2018 at CCMC Memorial Campus. He was born on February 20, 1940 in Freemont, NE a son of the late Arthur R. Hoppie, Sr and Helen (Fisher) Hoppie. Rex retired from DuPont and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed doing volunteer work for the community, Habitat for Humanity, and especially at the church. He enjoyed bird hunting with his dogs and had walked the entire length of the WV Rails to Trails. He is survived by his son Brett Hoppie of Parkersburg; daughter Jennifer Rice (Matthew) of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren Hudson Fisher and Amron Elizabeth Rice both of Hendersonville; sisters Jessie McCormick (Bill) of North Platte, NE and Beth Ann Fairfield of Glenwood, Iowa; and nieces Pat and Carol.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Norma (Evans) Hoppie. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Davita Dialysis for the care they have provided. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Reverend Sharletta Green officiating.
