Mrs. Sumera was a devout Catholic all her life. She loved Christ and was committed to financially supporting the Dominican Sisters who educated her from grade school to high school and taught her all about Christ. She met her handsome Filipino husband at a dance in Brooklyn where she was part of a church group that danced with Navy sailors on Saturday evenings for fun.
She was married to the love of her life for 68 years and they stood side by side throughout life’s trials and tribulations. She was a loving supportive mother with the patience of a Saint who somehow found time to be den mother for the Boy Scouts when her sons were young. She was an awesome nurturing grandmother who cherished every one of her grandchildren.
She was the sweetest great-grandmother that loved kissing and hugging all her treasures as she called them. Her passion in life was to love and care for her family which she did with her whole heart. She lived a very simple and humble life that did not involve hobbies or vacations because she was too busy caring for those she loved.
For many years she spent every Sunday with her husband preparing huge delicious meals for their children, spouses, and grandchildren. All those years of sharing meals and family fun time are forever etched in the hearts of her family members. The family wishes to thank Casie Boudreaux and Cindy C. Baril for the many years of wonderful Nursing care and Christina Gegenheimer for many years of sweet CNA care.
The family would also like to thank Americare Hospice employees for awesome care given to prepare her and the family for her final journey in life.
