WILLIAMSPORT – Audrey L. (Stepp) Smith, 97, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Williamsport Home, surrounded by family. Audrey was born on December 31, 1921 in Moreland Twp. , and was the daughter of the late Grace Smith Wyland and spent her early years at the farm of her grandparents, Robert and Ella Smith.

Audrey was a 1939 graduate of Williamsport High School. She had worked at Woolworths, Ray-O-Vac and then Tetley Tea, from where she retired. Audrey was the family matriarch and historian.

She was a life long member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. Audrey is survived by one daughter; Regena C. Stepp of Columbia, MD, one grandson; Tre Alford of Williamsport, one brother and sister-in-law; Luke and Carol Wyland of S. Williamsport, one sister; Ruth Swank of Williamsport, one daughter-in-law; Suzanne Stepp of Williamsport and numerous nieces and nephews and was known as Aunt Audrey to them and the many “adopted” nieces and nephews she attracted throughout her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands; Mearle E. “Jim” Stepp and Sidney Smith, one son; James M. Stepp and one brother; David Wyland.

There will be a public viewing 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the City Alliance Church, 380 West 4th St., Williamsport, where the funeral will begin at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Spencer Sweeting will officiate the service. Burial will be private in Montoursville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to STEP; Independent Living Endowment Fund, 2138 Lincoln St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements are being handled by the Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, 500 West 4th St., Williamsport.
