Aurelia’s Obituary Rapid City – Aurelia Marks, 82, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 26, 2019 at home. Aurelia Irene Treetop was born November 11, 1936 at Little Eagle, SD to Michael Ray and Elizabeth (Looking Back) Tree Top, Sr She went to school at the Pierre Indian School.

She also attended UTETC in Bismarck, ND and Standing Rock Community College. Aurelia lived in Pierre and married Ray Marks Sr They were divorced after 18 years of marriage and she continued to raise her family as a single parent in Pierre.

In 1986 she moved to Rapid City along with other family members. After her children were gone from home she raised her grandson Winston and granddaughter TeraJo. Aurelia was a volunteer in the church food pantry at Faith Temple Church.

She was active on the Elderly Task Force in Rapid City for many years. She enjoyed sewing, making Indian dance costumes for her granddaughters, she made star quilts with matching diaper bags, baking, going to church gatherings, and gospel music. She also enjoyed family get-togethers, especially during holidays.

During the last 5 years of her life, she enjoyed attending elderly meetings and also the company of great-granddaughter Clarinda and going for rides and listening to the oldies with granddaughter Chris. Her family was always important to her and wanted to help them in whatever way she could. Survivors include sons: Merle Marks of Ft.

Thompson SD, Mark Marks of Wagner SD, Winston Cadotte of Dickinson ND, Terry Marks of Ft. Thompson SD, and Randy Marks of Ft. Thompson SD; daughters: Linda Fogg, Theresa Marks, and TeraJo Marks all of Rapid City SD; brother Michael Tree Top Jr. of Washington State; sisters: Beatrice Noisy Hawk of Pierre SD, Lois Tree Top of Bismarck ND, Rose Tree Top of Flandreau SD, and Debbie Tree Top of Wakpala SD; 31 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Aurelia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Marks Sr, son Ray Marks Jr, daughter Jolene Rogers-Marks, brother David Tree Top, sisters Mary Lou Tree Top and Norma Lee Tree Top, granddaughter Jamie Kusser, great-great-grandson Liam Zahn-Rencountre, and great-great-granddaughter Autumn Houle-LaRoche. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday, February 4 at the Mother Butler Center with the Memorial Services to be held at 6:00 pm at the Mother Butler Center. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery at Black Hawk, SD.

Arrangements are with Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
