Barbara Ann Dexter Gupton, age 79, of Jefferson went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2019. Mrs. Gupton was born June 30, 1939 in Pearl River, NY to the late Russell and Mary Rassaert Dexter. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband James Cabot Gupton and her son Russell Gupton.

Bobbie graduated from Oglethorpe University. Together with her husband, she lived in various places in the United States and abroad, though she always considered Raleigh, NC her home. She was a lifetime supporter of the Boys and Girls Clubs.

She taught swimming and took great pleasure in her grandkids. In 2011, she underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor. For the last eight years she fought the good fight, was optimistic, bold in adversity and never gave up.

She was the inspiration. She was a loving mother and grandmother, sister, friend. She will be greatly missed.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Holly Gupton and her husband, her granddaughters Julia and Emma, her daughter in law, Tanya and step grandson Christian and her sister Kathy Giroux and husband Robert Giroux of Jefferson, NC. 2 Tim 4:7-8: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course.
