Barbara Ann Mathisen, age 87, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2018. Barbara was born on December 15, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Narcisso and Alvina Rios (nee Schindele). She attended Fort Hamilton High School, in Brooklyn where she met the love of her life Raymond Allen Mathisen.

They married in 1950 and moved to Victorville, CA where she was blessed with their first daughter, Yvonne Joy. Barbara was very proud of her family and spent most of her life as a homemaker.

She also worked as a Hospital Aide in Rhinebeck, NY. The family traveled a lot while Raymond was serving in the United States Air Force. They ended up in Florence, Kentucky about 5 years ago.

Barbara was a member of Grace Community Church. She leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years, Raymond Allen Mathisen; daughter, Yvonne Joy of Florence; son, Donald Mathisen (Karen) of Union; and Janet Iatridis (Matt) of Woodstock, NY; grandchildren, Christina Joy of Lexington; Steven Mathisen of Newport; Michael Iatridis of Utah; and Anthea Leiss (Adam) of Philadelphia. She leaves behind her parents and son-in-law, Jon Joy.
