Obituary for Barbara Ann Shipman Died peacefully on September 27, 2018 surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on April 17, 1924, in Lansing, Michigan to Noble and Nina Glassbrook. She was a graduate of Michigan State University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega social sorority.

On May 10, 1952 Barbara married Jack L. Shipman. They lived in Ann Arbor after their marriage. She was a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Women’s City Club, the Margaret Waterman and Lucille Conger Alumnae Groups, P.E.O. Chapter W, and the Women’s National Farm and Garden Association, in which she served as a president and treasurer.

Barbara loved spending time at the family cottage in upper Michigan, where she enjoyed beach walks, gardening, and most of all being with her family and dog Suki. She also enjoyed watching the variety of wildlife that frequented the yard of her Ann Arbor home. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Jack and son David.

Survivors are: son John L Shipman II (Barbara) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, daughter Jana S Therrian (Jeff) of Holt, Michigan and her grandchildren, Andrew Shipman (Toni Dallas) of Ft. Myers, FL, Tim Shipman of Ann Arbor, Jeffrey Therrian of Holt, and Jenn Therrian of Scottsdale, AZ. Barbara Ann is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Isla Shipman of Ft.

Myers and Weston Therrian of Holt. The family would like to thank Barbara’s caregivers, whose care allowed her to remain in her home until the time of her death. Barbara was an extraordinarily kind person who saw the best in everyone.

Her smile seemed to light up a room and her positive attitude about everything was an inspiration to her family. She was a special mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
