Obituary for John Edwin (Eddie) Judson Jr. John Edwin Judson passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018. He was born on July 3, 1926 in Ann Arbor to John Engstrom Judson and Helen Gould Tubbs. Eddie attended Ann Arbor High School and ran on the cross country team.

When he was 18 years old, he met Monica Anne Dreffs. They were married on August 30, 1947 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gaylord. They were married 69 years when Monica passed away in 2016.

Eddie worked at King Seeley and later at Ford Motor Company in Quality Control and Transportation. After retiring from Ford, Eddie worked at the Holiday Inn in Ann Arbor. He enjoyed construction and carpentry work and building with his hands.

He built the two homes he lived in, both his daughter’s homes, and several additions and garages for relatives. Eddie loved our country and enjoyed traveling and camping around the United States. In 2016, a few weeks before his 90th birthday, he and his son, Kelly, set out in his truck and travel trailer to see the Pacific Ocean because he had never seen it in person.

Along their route he was awed by the splendor of the Grand Canyon and the engineering feat of the Hoover Dam. They arrived at the Pacific Ocean, traveled up the California coast and viewed the majestic Redwoods. After crossing into the state of Washington, he succeeded in his lifetime quest of driving through the 48 lower states.

“It was the trip of a lifetime! ” Eddie was a founder of St. Francis Catholic Church and served as an usher and a counter. He is survived by his three children: Carol (Ron) Stimpson, Kelly (Karen) Judson, and Caron (Dean Wainwright), his 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by brother Ted Judson, sister Sally (Don) Gurk, his cousin Anne (Don) Massey, Billie, Prudy, and Shirley Dreffs, Marcy Goosen, Fran and Rosie Switalski, and Virgil and Kathy Dreffs and many nieces and nephews. Those that preceded him in death: his wife, Monica Anne Judson and his in-laws Shirley Judson, Agnes and Ray Milbocker, Lawrence and Barbara Dreffs, Vincent Dreffs, Cyril Dreffs, Floyd and Marcia Dreffs, and Carl Goosen. He had a special way and relationship with dogs like Rosa and will be missed by his many furry friends, especially Majic.
